BEAUTIFUL FEET – Suddenly / I See (5:1 Records - 04/05/05)

Review by Dawn

"Songs to fall in love to", proclaims the band's press release. A more accurate statement with which to follow that with would be 'and songs to fall in love with' as, in Suddenly, Nick Castle's distinctive voice once more pours out the contents of his heart in a delivery even more impassioned than their previous effort, the gorgeous Headstrong.

While second song I See also holds a simple, lovelorn beauty, once again it's the first track here which steals the plaudits. With chiming guitars alluding to those of Feeder, Buffseeds and Athlete and the repeated mantra 'you're always the same/ you never change/ change was forgotten' completing its slow-burning, anthemic quality, it's no surprise that the five-piece have already amassed a huge following in their hometown of Leeds.
